What it shows

Bank statements show that you have enough money for the trip and where it comes from. Officers read the history, not only the closing balance.

Strong

Several months of statements showing regular income arriving
A balance that comfortably covers flights, stay and daily costs
Issued by the bank, with your name, account number and the bank's stamp or digital verification

Weak

Download official statements for the period the visa authority asks for
Explain unusual deposits in a short note and attach the source (sale contract, bonus letter)
If someone sponsors you, add their statements, a signed letter and proof of the relationship

Common mistake

Borrowing money to inflate the balance. An unexplained lump sum is one of the most common reasons officers doubt a file.
