Evidence that the applicant has genuine, ongoing access to sufficient funds to support themselves (and any dependants) for the entire visit without working in Australia or relying on Australian government assistance.
Officers assess whether your finances genuinely and plausibly cover accommodation, living costs, and activities for the stated length of stay, without needing to work or access public assistance. Recent bank statements (often 3–6 months) showing stable balances are stronger than a single-day snapshot. Large unexplained deposits shortly before lodgement raise questions. If someone else sponsors the trip, provide a sponsorship or support letter plus the sponsor's own financial evidence and a clear relationship explanation.
Funds should be proportionate to the itinerary — a long, multi-city trip with thin balances looks inconsistent.
