Recognition Beyond Occupation

What This Criterion Requires

This optional criterion covers recognition for work beyond your occupation that contributes to the advancement of the field (Appendix Global Talent). GOV.UK describes it as contributing to the digital technology sector outside of work, for example through mentoring or collaborative projects (GOV.UK). Open-source work, talks, judging and community leadership can fit too. It needs at least 2 evidence documents that are not used for another criterion.

The activity should be substantive and ideally selective — chosen by others based on your expertise, not open to any paying participant.

What Assessors Look For

• Selectivity — invited talks, juried committees, competitive mentoring programmes
• Reach beyond your employer — the audience or beneficiaries extend past your company
• Evidence of the field treating you as an authority — you are profiled or quoted as an expert, not paying for placement
• Substance — an ongoing pattern of contribution, not one-off ceremonial appearances
