Accommodation Arrangements

Where you will stay during the visit

Official Definition

Evidence of where the applicant will stay during the visit (hotel, rental, or host residence) for the full duration of the trip.

What Caseworkers Look For

Lodging should look credible and cover the whole stay: hotel or rental confirmations with matching dates, or a host invitation that includes the host's identity and full address. Dates should align with your itinerary and stated purpose. Incomplete addresses or bookings that leave gaps in the trip invite follow-up questions.

Host stays are common for family visits; caseworkers still evaluate your own genuine visitor status and funds — the host's presence alone does not satisfy the requirement. If the host is also providing financial sponsorship, their immigration status and ability to support you matter too (see third-party sponsorship rules under financial means).

    Common Refusal / Processing Triggers

    Common Problems

    • Itinerary cities that do not match lodging locations.
    • Host invitations that are generic templates with no specifics.
    • Relying on accommodation alone while funds and the genuine visitor case are weak.
    • Open-ended stays with no clear lodging end date.

    Tips for Strengthening Your Evidence

    Pro Tips

    • Align lodging dates with flights and the trip purpose statement.
    • For hosts: include full name, UK address, contact details, relationship, and visit dates.
    • Refundable hotel holds are often enough; perfect prepaid bookings are not required in every case.
    • If lodging changes after applying, be ready to explain the update if asked.

    Relevant Document Types

Typical uploads: hotel confirmations, rental reservations, host invitation letters with address, and corporate housing confirmations.
