Last updated Oct 6, 2026

Educational only — not legal advice.

What it shows

Accommodation proof shows the officer where you will sleep on each night of the trip and who pays for it. It supports the purpose of the visit and makes the itinerary believable.

Strong vs. weak

Strong

Hotel or rental booking in your name covering every night of the stay
Host's invitation with their address, their status in the country and proof they live there
Dates that match your flights and your leave from work

Weak

A booking for the first night only
A reservation in someone else's name with no explanation
Dates that do not match the rest of the application

How to prepare it

Use the confirmation issued by the hotel or platform, showing name, address and dates
If you stay with family or friends, add their invitation and proof of address
For several cities, give one document per stop, in travel order

Common mistake

Cancelling a refundable booking right after applying. If the plan changes, be ready to show the new one at the border.
