The course-by-course record behind your degree

Last updated Oct 6, 2026

Educational only — not legal advice.

What it shows

An academic transcript lists the courses you took, the grades and the date the degree was awarded. It supports the degree certificate and shows what you actually studied.

Strong vs. weak

Strong

An official transcript issued by the institution
Shows the award and the date it was conferred
Matches the certificate in name, degree and dates

Weak

An unofficial printout from a student portal
A transcript for an unfinished programme presented as a completed degree
No translation or grading-scale explanation

How to prepare it

Order an official copy from the registrar
Add the institution's grading scale
Add a certified translation where needed, and a credential evaluation if the route asks for one

Common mistake

Sending the certificate without the transcript when the route needs to see the field and level of study.
