How your earlier studies support the programme you chose

Educational only — not legal advice.
Transcripts and certificates of the applicant's earlier studies.
Academic records are not on IRCC's general document list, but many visa offices ask for them, and officers read the programme against what you studied before. This requirement is supporting rather than required, but a short, well-organized record often answers questions before they are asked.
The records should show the institution, programme, dates, and results. Officers look at how the programme in Canada relates to them: a logical next step, a repeat of the same level, or a change of field. A programme at a lower level than one already completed, or in an unrelated field, needs an explanation in the study plan, as does a gap in studies.
