What This Criterion Requires

A valid job offer is one of the six FSW selection factors (up to 10 of the 67 points needed for eligibility). It must be for full-time, non-seasonal work of at least one year in a TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupation, and you must have it before you apply.

The CRS side has changed twice:

• March 25, 2025 to November 2, 2026 — a job offer adds no CRS points. IRCC removed them as a temporary anti-fraud measure, for candidates already in the pool and new ones.
• From November 3, 2026 — IRCC reintroduces job-offer points inside a new Labour Market Integration factor (maximum 150). A qualifying offer earns 50, 70 or 100 points, but only in an eligible high-wage occupation. You get points for Canadian work experience or the job offer, whichever is higher, never both.

From November 3, 2026 a job offer also no longer needs an LMIA, for FSW eligibility or for CRS points, and an LMIA gives no extra points. An officer still checks that the offer is genuine when you apply for permanent residence. FSW eligibility offers are not limited to high-wage occupations.

Arranged employment is optional. Many FSW candidates have no job offer and still succeed if CRS is competitive another way (language, French, PNP, Canadian experience).

What Officers Look For

• Genuine employer and offer documentation: an active business that can meet the terms and needs the role
• Occupation alignment with your qualifications and NOC
• Duration, hours, wage, and location details
• For offers assessed before November 3, 2026: LMIA confirmation or a valid exemption pathway
