Nominator

What This Criterion Requires

A valid nomination is required from an:

• Australian citizen, or
• Australian permanent resident, or
• Eligible New Zealand citizen, or
• Australian organisation

…with a national reputation in the same area as you. The national reputation is required of every kind of nominator, not only of an organisation.

The nominator signs the Nomination for National Innovation visa (Form 1000) and attests to your internationally recognised record of achievement. You attach the completed form when you apply, and the application is due within 60 days of your invitation. Nomination by an expert Australian Government agency, or a State or Territory Government agency, also places a candidate in priority two for an invitation.

The nominator does not need to employ you or pay you. Their role is to credibly vouch for your record.

What Assessors Look For

• A completed and signed Form 1000, with every relevant question answered as the form instructs
• Evidence of an individual nominator's citizenship, permanent residence or eligible New Zealand citizen status
• Same-area alignment that is obvious on the papers
• Evidence of the nominator's national reputation — individual or organisation
• For an organisation, proof that the person who signed Form 1000 is authorised to represent it
• A nomination statement with firsthand knowledge — not generic praise
