Optional letter from a UK host, relative, or business contact inviting the applicant for a visit or temporary business activity. Supports purpose and accommodation but does not replace proof of funds or genuine visitor evidence.
An invitation can clarify purpose, dates, and lodging. Caseworkers still evaluate the applicant, not the inviter's status alone. Strong invitations identify the host, relationship, visit dates, who pays expenses, and host contact information. If the host is providing financial sponsorship, the letter should also address the host's own immigration status and ability to support you (see the third-party sponsorship rules under financial means). Generic templates without specifics are weak.
This item is optional — missing an invitation is not a failure by itself when purpose, funds, and genuine visitor evidence are otherwise clear.
