What it shows

A critical review is an assessment of your work by a critic or expert, published in a recognised outlet. It shows recognition of the quality of the work itself.

Strong vs. weak

Strong

A review by a named critic in a respected publication
Discusses your work and your contribution specifically
Shows publication, date and author

Weak

Audience comments or ratings on open platforms
Promotional copy from the producer
A review of a production that does not mention you

How to prepare it

Save the full review with the outlet and date visible
Add evidence of the outlet's standing
Translate foreign-language reviews in full

Common mistake

Submitting listings or announcements as reviews. A review has to evaluate the work.
