Why This Document Matters

For Blue Card, the employment contract (or binding offer) is not supporting colour — it is the primary eligibility exhibit. Awards and recommendation letters do not rescue a weak contract. Authorities read salary, duration, employer identity, and role first.

What a Strong Contract Includes

Parties — your full name/passport details and the employer's legal name and address
Role — job title and a short description of highly qualified duties
Duration — start date and term of at least six months (or open-ended)
Gross remuneration — annual or monthly figure that clearly meets the threshold
Location — place of work in the member state
Signatures — authorized employer signatory and your acceptance where required

Strong vs Weak Offers

Strong

Signed, dated, consistent with company registry and application forms
Guaranteed gross salary above the published threshold for the correct year
Duties that match your degree or documented specialist experience
Clear full-time (or properly documented) working time

Weak

Intent letters without enforceable terms
Net-only figures or 'competitive package' language
Conflicting employer entities (payroll vs sponsor)
Roles that look like internships or unskilled support

Before You File

Ask the employer to amend the contract if the guaranteed base sits below a newly indexed threshold. Fixing pay on paper is faster than arguing after a refusal.
