Evidence of prior international travel and compliance with prior visas, which can support credibility of temporary intent (helpful but not always required).

What Consular Officers Look For

Prior visas and timely departures from the United States, Schengen Area, UK, Canada, Australia, or similar destinations can support the credibility of temporary intent. First-time travelers can still qualify with strong ties and funds, but lack of history may invite closer scrutiny.

Prior refusals should be disclosed honestly on DS-160 — hiding them is far more damaging than the refusal itself.
