The clinic certificate some applicants need for a UK visa
Last updated Oct 28, 2026
Educational only — not legal advice.
A tuberculosis (TB) test certificate comes from an approved clinic after a chest x-ray. It is needed when you are coming to the UK for 6 months or more and have lived for 6 months or more in a country on GOV.UK's list within the last 6 months. The certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of the x-ray.
Common mistake
Taking the test too early, so the certificate has expired by the time the application is made.
