APS Certificate

The Academic Evaluation Centre certificate that confirms school and university certificates from India, China and Vietnam

What it shows

An APS certificate is issued by the Academic Evaluation Centre (Akademische Prüfstelle, APS), run by the German missions with the DAAD in New Delhi, Beijing and Hanoi. APS checks that the educational certificates of an applicant from India, China or Vietnam are genuine and issues a certificate when they are. It names the applicant and the qualifications it covers, and shows the date. It is needed to apply to a German university and is uploaded with the visa application.

For Vietnam and undergraduate study, accompanied by a TestAS result

Weak

No APS certificate when your certificates are from India, China or Vietnam
A certificate for another person or another qualification
An APS certificate for certificates from another country, which is not needed

How to prepare it

Check whether your school leaving certificate or undergraduate degree is from India, China or Vietnam
Apply to the APS office for your country early, since the certificate is also needed for the university application
Upload the certificate with the visa application
For Vietnam, read the embassy's APS page for the TestAS result

Common mistake

Leaving out the APS certificate when the school or university certificates are from India, China or Vietnam.
